Lack Construction Praised for Building Thousand Oaks Transit Services Center

Ventura Countryis first igreeni public works building, a beautiful new Transit Services Center in Thousand Oaks, was dedicated on Oct. 15 at a well-attended public ceremony. The building is being reviewed for an impressive silver certification, under the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards of the U.S. Green Building Council. The projectis general contractor, Lack Construction of Santa Barbara, is a green builder and one of the few in the area with LEED-accredited professionals on staff.

City officials touted the centeris many beneficial environmental and energy-conserving features, including that an impressive 75% of the construction waste was recycled and diverted from landfills disposal, while 10% of the building products used were recycled materials. Thousand Oaks Public Works Director Mark Watkins told the crowd that many people were responsible for the projectis success and specifically praised city staff, architect Miralles Associates, and general contractor Lack Construction for their work.
